Murals
Ellen worked with multiple businesses along the Highway 212 corridor and downtown district to design and implement window murals to incorporate this cycle’s theme of ‘flora, fauna, fungi’ as reflected by each business owner. The large-scale mural located at the YMC Historical Society & Museum depicts the local ecology from pre-written history to modern day agriculture.
Ran It Granite Run Club
Coming soon to a retail window near you: mini museums/art galleries! Ellen has meet with numerous business owners and community groups to coordinate an exciting way to utilize commerce window space to provide showcases for community art, history, and happenings. Keep an eye out for these as they will be popping up in the next few weeks!
Stephanie Rogers, is a published arts writer, arts administrator, and the Executive & Artistic Director of the Anderson Center in Redwing, MN. She shares her craft for mending clothing and textiles while creating opportunities for participants to connect, share, and learn from one another. The “Amendments” project utilizes sewing circles to encourage participants to get to know their neighbors. Bring a garment or textile that needs light mending (no undergarments please but socks welcome) and join in the circle!
If mending isn’t your thing, join us to decorate a quilt block which will be assembled and given to a community member!
Shephanie is also creating custom patches based on what represents Granite Falls to YOU! Is it your street sign, a pelican on the river, a significant building/landmark, or maybe even a plant you want by every day on the trails? Email, comment on social media, or attend an event to let us know! She will be completing 5-6 designs and bringing patches back in April.
Join the Ran It Granite Run/Walk Club! Meet people in our community and run or walk together. Run Club signage by 2023 GF CAIR Ellen Ogden starts at the Granite Area Arts Council Gallery on Prentice Street, along 4th Street, under the bridge, and loops the main Memorial Park trail.
